David Korins

I chose to do research on Set Designer David Korins. He was educated at the University of Massachusetts. He has gone on to design many different things including Sets for Musicals, concerts (such as Lady Gaga and Kanye), restaurants, festivals and much more.

He designs abstract sets with lots of versatility. They are interesting to look at and create different levels for actors to work on. His sets are cohesive with plot while remaining visually striking even when not in use. He often uses structures or bright colourful lighting to create impact on the audience.

Korin has been given many awards for his work including an Emmy, a Lortel and an Obie Award.

His most famous works include Hamilton, Dear Even Hanson, Beetlejuice which is where I first discovered him. I am a fan of musicals! He inspired me to look into courses with Set Design as I had never properly considered it as a career before.
